Ofelia Santana, 35, of Fresno, died Friday evening after she was ejected from a vehicle that overturned near Sanger, according to authorities.
The vehicle was driven by Michelle Antoinette Vega, 45, of Fresno. A California Highway Patrol report stated that Vega was westbound on Jensen Avenue in the vicinity of Del Ray Avenue when she lost control of the car, which overturned in an orchard.
Vega, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. Officers arrested her on suspicion of felony DUI manslaughter and she was booked into Fresno County Jail with bail set at $102,000. Jail records show that Vegas made her bail.
The CHP said that Santana wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle overturned.
