Today is Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for the greater Fresno community.

In the video above, Edward Luciano shares the success he’s having with his small business — the Emergence hair-styling shop — on Fulton in downtown Fresno.

To hear an extended interview with Luciano, go to The GV Wire Podcast, found here.

This year, small businesses need support as they navigate, retool, and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Founded by American Express in 2010 and cosponsored by the Small Business Administration since 2011, the day has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season.

Historically, reported projected spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday totaled more than $23.3 billion, according to the 2021 SBA Consumer Insights Survey commissioned by American Express.

Holiday shoppers have many choices. Don’t overlook the value and bargains offered by small businesses.

Good Deals in Fresno’s Chinatown

These 10 participating Chinatown businesses are offering coupon specials that last from Small Business Saturday to the end of the year:

  • Fearless Auto Shop
  • Grandma Jane’s Kitchen
  • La Elegante
  • La Fiesta Bar
