Fresno’s first storm of the fall season will continue today after spritzing the city with .13 inches of rain on the city Tuesday.

About one-tenth of an inch is expected between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Hanford says.

Then expect mostly clear sunny skies, with overnight lows in the 40s and high 30s, until light rains return late Saturday night followed by a chance of rain daily through Tuesday.

Fresno experienced the power outages and fender benders customary with rain’s arrival.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, there were at least six Fresno neighborhoods without power, according to the PG&E outage map.

Snow in the Sierra

A Winter Storm Warning will end for the Sierra Nevada at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

About 1-to-2 inches of snow is expected at locations with elevations between 4,000 feet and 5,000 feet today. The NWS forecast calls for 2-to-4 inches from 5,000 feet to 6,000 feet, and 4-to-8 inches above 6,000 feet.

With California starved for precipitation because of the ongoing drought, people up and down the state are celebrating the season’s first snow.

Tioga Road Remains Closed

Tioga Road (the continuation of Highway 120 through Yosemite National Park is temporarily closed due to a forecast of snow.  Call (209) 372-0200 (then punch 1, 1) to check the road’s status.

Heading to Southern or Northern California?

Snow continues to fall on Interstate 80 near Truckee, so travelers heading to the Lake Tahoe area are advised to carry chains.

Forecasters said the Interstate 5 corridor over Tejon Pass north of Los Angeles could be impacted by snow and gusty winds on Thursday.

You can check road conditions anywhere in the state at this Caltrans link or by calling 1-800-427-7623.
