Three more residents have died as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak at the Redwood Springs Healthcare Center in Visalia.

The Tulare County Health Department confirmed the deaths Wednesday afternoon. Eighteen deaths are now associated with the nursing facility.

A total of 109 residents, 55 staff and eight others associated with Redwood Springs tested positive for COVID-19, an official said.

Emergency Medical Services Team on Site

A medical team from California’s Emergency Medical Services Authority arrived at the 176-bed facility on Tuesday, said Tammie Weyker-Adkins, public information officer for Tulare County’s Health & Human Services Agency.

The rapid-response team, which includes nurses, emergency medical technicians, and others, is assisting with caring for patients and working to contain further spread of the disease.

Lindsay Nursing Home Also Battling Outbreak

Another state medical team is at the Lindsay Gardens nursing facility in Tulare County, which is also battling a COVID-19 outbreak. On Tuesday, the facility reported 4 additional positive cases — raising the number of infected residents there to 32. Six staff have also tested positive, as well as two others who contracted the virus at the 99-bed facility.

There have been no deaths reported at the Lindsay Gardens nursing home.

Tulare County now reports 441 positive cases and 25 deaths, with 523 patients being monitored under quarantine. County health officials say 66 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease.
