Increased UV Exposure May Limit Spread of New Coronavirus

Efforts to combat the growth of SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19, are ubiquitous: quarantines, social distancing and the countless activities that have been suspended or cancelled to help limit COVID-19’s spread throughout the world.
Now increased sunshine could help in the Northern Hemisphere. Data compiled by AccuWeather of the ultraviolet energy received from the sun from Jan. 1, 2019, to the present is a reminder that substantial increases of UV rays has begun and will continue for the next several months.
AccuWeather examined the daily UV Index from seven major cities worldwide from Jan. 1, 2019, through mid-March 2020 compared to the 10-year average of the daily UV Index for those cities.
(The 10-year averages accounted for ozone and other gases in the atmospheric column.)
