LOS ANGELES — Two men and a woman face several criminal charges after a family’s fight at Disneyland turned violent and a video of the brawl went viral on social media.
Anaheim police said officers were called to the theme park to help investigate the July 5 melee, which began between a brother and sister but quickly involved other family members.
Video recorded by a park-goer and posted to YouTube showed a woman spit in a man’s face. He punched the woman several times. Moments later the same man knocked down another female relative and hit her repeatedly.
Charges of Battery, Assault
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that Avery Desmond-Edwinn Robinson, his sister Andrea Robinson and her husband Daman Petrie all face a series of charges, including battery and assault.
After the fight, as officers escorted the family to a Disneyland parking area, Robinson threatened to kill his sister and her husband, the district attorney’s office said, according to the Orange County Register. Robinson simulated a gun with his hand and pointed it at them, prosecutors said.
Andrea Robinson’s husband, Daman Petrie, faces a misdemeanor charge of battery for allegedly hitting Avery Robinson’s girlfriend, prosecutors said.
Video Led to Investigation
In the video, several park guests are seen trying repeatedly to step in and stop the fighting. Seven men tackled a man who appears to be Avery Robinson and held him down under park security arrived.
Anaheim police who came to the park didn’t see the video. The next day, police detectives saw the video, which led to the opening of a criminal investigation.
