Luis Chavez wants another term on the Fresno City Council.
The incumbent southeast Fresno representative won a special election in 2016 to fulfill the remaining two years of Sal Quintero’s term after Quintero won a seat on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
Chavez formerly represented the area as a Fresno Unified School District trustee and also served as Quintero’s aide.
He faces Paula Yang, who finished as the runner-up in the June primary.

Chavez sat down with Take 5 and talked about:
— His background growing up in District 5 and his prior career in education.
— His stated priorities of public safety, jobs, and development.
— His views on a public safety tax.
