As climate deniers and their allies in industry and government thwart conservationists’ efforts, some scientists are working to develop a backup plan.
That plan uses technology to “geoengineer” the Earth’s atmosphere and reduce the impacts of climate change, says VICE on HBO in the introduction to its explanatory video on efforts to convert carbon dioxide to fuel.
Bill Gates Involved in Effort
You should know that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his partners are backing these experimentations.
At their facility in British Columbia, engineers have succeeded in extracting CO2 from the air and using it to produce a mix of gasoline and diesel. They hope to eventually replicate the process on an industrial scale, the Guardian reports.
