Galaxy's Edge Mania Means Lines are Short in the Rest of Disneyland

It’s opening weekend for Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge attraction. Throngs of “Star Wars” fans with reservation-only access will fill the park’s new land for weeks.

All this focus on droids, space smugglers and a life-size Millenium Falcon is having a black-hole-like effect on the rest of the theme park:

Disneyland is empty. Or comparatively so for this time of year.

“If you’re not into #StarWars today is really empty at #Disneyland,” a Twitter account called Universal Core posted Friday.

Scott Gustin, a reporter with Tribune Media, was at The Happiest Place on Earth on Friday primarily to experience Galaxy’s Edge. But the dearth of humans elsewhere in the park was impossible to ignore.

“Posted wait times way below normal — go enjoy it,” Gustin posted on Twitter.

A check of the Disneyland mobile app seemed to bear that out. At 2 p.m. Friday, the wait time for Splash Mountain was 35 minutes. Normally, that would pushing an hour. Star Tours listed a 30 wait, if you still need a droid fix.

It’s even quieter over at California Adventure. A wait of 30 minutes (remember, it’s relative) was shown on the app for Guardians of Galaxy — Mission: Breakout!
