When Ed Lund died in a bicycle crash in 2015, it tore at the hearts of not only his family but Fresno’s arts and cycling communities.
Determined to continue his generous spirit, family and friends launched the Edward O. Lund Foundation in support of Fresno State art students just two months later.

The foundation annually awards scholarships enabling students to take a three-unit art course in London. The scholarships cover everything: tuition, airfare, hotel, food. and incidentals. This year, there will be seven recipients.
“The class really makes a difference for these students,” says Lund’s mother, Judy Lund-Bell, a Fresno attorney. “They come back to Fresno with a whole new view of the world and the possibilities.”

Fundraising Events Oct. 19-20

Two upcoming events will benefit the foundation.
The HAMMER Road Rally, on Saturday, Oct. 19, offers options for cyclists of all abilities and a choice of four fully supported courses in the Shaver Lake/Huntington Lake area.
The toughest course combines pavement and gravel over 85 miles and more than 9,100 feet of climbing. Olympic medalist and 3-time Tour of  California winner Levi Leipheimer, who has ridden in the event since its inception is entered. Lund, whose cycling nickname was “the Hammer,” died in Leipheimer’s charity race in Santa Rosa.
You can register for the rides at this link.

Scotch, Brew, and Art

On Sunday, Oct. 20, “Scotch, Brew & Art Affair” will be held at The Mad Duck at Campus Pointe from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is described as an “enchanting evening in celebration of art, in its many forms, and the life that inspired us to gather in revelry of it.” In addition to food and beverages, there will be music, a silent auction, and an art exhibition.
Tickets, priced at $40, are available at this link.
