Two Central Valley and one Central Coast location will receive funds raised from Proposition 68, the voter-passed 2018 bond measure for parks, water infrastructure, flood protection, and other endeavors.
The State Natural Resources Agency awarded $37 million in grants Wednesday to 21 projects in California.
“We’re very excited this is coming to fruition. We’ve been working on this park for a long time,” Kerman Mayor Rhonda Armstrong said.
The grant will help with the $5 million estimated price tag on the park. The rest will come from a bond measure passed by Kerman voters in 2018.
Other Projects Receive Help
The Tulare county city of Farmersville received $1.9 million for a community park in the Sequoia Gateway Area.
And, San Luis Obispo County received  $1.9 million for the coastal community of Cayucos to restore Cass Warehouse, also known as the Veterans Memorial Building.
“The warehouse will increase opportunities for community education and engagement programs, provide recreational amenities and public access to cultural resources, and serve as an economic center for the community,” an SNR news release said of the Cayucos project.
