The suspect wanted in the shooting death of Newman police officer Ronil Singh was captured in Bakersfield early Friday morning, according to a Twitter post from a Turlock congressional candidate and veterinarian.
“Great News….. The fugitive wanted in connection with murder of Newman, CA Police Officer Ronil Singh has been arrested early this morning in Bakersfield,” wrote Ted Howze, who has announced his candidacy for the 2020 District 10 congressional seat.

The Modesto Bee published a story this morning reporting Howze’s tweet.
“The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office would not confirm the arrest but announced Friday morning that it will hold a press conference at noon to release “significant developments” in the hunt for the man suspected of killing the corporal,” The Bee reported. “The Kern County Sheriff’s Office also is holding a press conference tied to the Newman case.”
