Letter sent, letter received, and a Monday phone meeting is set. The subject: Allow Fresno County to open restaurants.

Fresno County’s interim health officer Vohra and health director David Pomaville got the immediate attention of state Health Director Dr. Sonia Angell with a two-page letter.

“We are requesting to move further into Stage 2 by allowing “dine-in” food service to begin with facility adherence to the protective measures defined in the May 12, 2020 Industry Guidance,” the letter reads in part.

“We are requesting to move further into Stage 2 by allowing “dine-in” food service to begin.”Fresno County Department of Health letter to state health director

Vohra Is Hopeful

The letter was sent on Friday. By Friday afternoon, Dr. Angell’s office responded and agreed to a Monday afternoon conference call to discuss the request.

“I’m always hopeful. I have a lot of faith in the state,” Vohra said. “I’m definitely hopeful. But I also understand these are pretty restrictive metrics and we may just have to wait until the state as a whole decides to move everybody forward at the same time.”

Here is the full letter.
