A two-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Fruit Avenue and Herndon Avenue in Fresno, the Fresno Police Department told GV Wire.

Authorities said the crash was caused when one driver experienced a medical emergency while behind the wheel.

The driver with the medical emergency collided into another car. That caused that vehicle to be pushed into a tree and subsequently crash into a power pole.

The driver experiencing the medical issue was transported to the hospital for treatment.

As a result of the incident, traffic in the area is heavily backed up and the local area experienced a power outage.

The traffic lights at the intersection of Fruit and Herndon are operating in a blinking pattern.
