A mountain of snow will be the featured attraction at a December event coming to Storyland in Fresno’s Roeding Park.
Over 10 tons of the wintery white stuff will give kids the opportunity for sledding and snow play at the inaugural Winter Wonderland at Storyland on Dec. 18 and 19. The event, sponsored by ValleyPBS with support from First 5 California, will also offer hot chocolate, photos with Santa, and a chance to meet PBS’s beloved monkey, Curious George.
“We are thrilled to bring this amazing family event to our Valley. Storyland is the perfect venue and First 5 California is an exceptional partner,” said Allison Hopkins, Valley PBS development director. “Valley PBS is all about education and exploring the world around you. We know that not all families can take a trip to the snow, so we decided to bring the snow to them.”
Gates will open at 9 a.m. and remain open through 5 p.m. both days.
Performances and Other Activities
In addition, there will be special performances and activities throughout the weekend. A craft area will be constructed for families to create special keepsakes to remember their visit. There will also be informational and vendor booths providing valuable community resources and last-minute holiday gifts.
Tickets, which are $10 in a special, early pricing through Nov. 30 and $12 through Dec. 17, may be purchased here. Tickets will sell at the Storyland entrance for $15 on Dec. 18 and 19. Children under the age of 1 are admitted free. Group pricing is available by contacting Bonnie Guest at bguest@valleypbs.org.
Winter Wonderland at Storyland’s supporters also include Woodside Homes, Electric Motor Shop & Supply, Inc., and Caglia Environmental.
