Grigor Hovhannissian, the Armenian ambassador to the United States, visited Fresno this past weekend. GV Wire talked with him. Among the topics discussed: U.S.-Armenian relations; his thoughts on President Trump’s executive order on travel; the proposed wall between America and Mexico and who should pay for it.
As a diplomat, it was only natural for Hovhannissian to deliver diplomatic answers. He felt the United States had a right to set policy that provides security. He hopes there is a solution to admit refugees.
As a former ambassador to Mexico, he saw first hand how NAFTA benefited that country. But, he feels the U.S. has the right to control its borders. He would love to see a bilateral agreement to solve any dispute.
