Three Kings County businesses were caught selling alcohol to a minor in a decoy operation on Tuesday, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office said in a Thursday statement.
The sheriff’s office, alongside the Hanford Police Department and a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agent, conducted the operation.

Authorities said the effort, which involved individuals under 20 years old attempting to buy alcohol, visited 41 locations.

The sale of alcohol to anyone under 21 may result in criminal and administrative sanctions for the employees and the businesses.
The businesses alleged to be in violation were Jack’s Gas at 1201 W. Lacey Blvd. in Hanford, La Mission Market at 800 Whitley Ave. in Corcoran, and Cost Less Food Company at 2001 Whitley Ave. in Corcoran.

Authorities said that the minor decoy program has been effective in promoting responsible alcohol sales, reducing substance abuse, and supporting community welfare.
