One of the longest-tenured Fresno TV news personalities is leaving town next month.

KSEE 24/CBS 47 sports director Andrew Marden wraps up soon, after 16 years reporting sports in Fresno. He is leaving to become sports director for another Nexstar-owned station, KTXL Fox40 in Sacramento.

“I have enjoyed my time in Fresno. I covered Josh Allen when he was in high school, and I was able to cover Derek Carr, Paul George and Aaron Judge when they were all in college. In my new role, I will still be able to report on local athletes and share their stories. I will also be able to cover professional sports, most notably the NBA’s Sacramento Kings,” Marden said.

His last assignment will be Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, one of several NFL title games he has covered.

The Syracuse University graduate came to town from Boise, replacing Paul Loeffler, now Fresno State’s full-time radio voice.

Marden’s reporting extended beyond Fresno. He covered several Olympic games for the Nexstar stations, and also covered the LIV golf tour.

Where’s Stefani Booroojian?

Stefani Booroojian

KSEE anchor Stefani Booroojian has been off the air for the last few weeks, but it is just temporary. She tells Media Man she is recovering from shoulder surgery but will be back on the air in February.

Booroojian, on the air with KSEE since 1982, is currently the longest-tenured Fresno TV news personality.

KMPH’s Kopi Sotiropulos started on air at KMPH in the mid-1970s as a TV host; left for 10 years in the 1980s to become a Hollywood actor; returned as a weatherman in 1992, where he has been ever since.

Other long timers (since the 1980s) include FOX26 KMPH’s Rich Rodriguez and Ralph Wood, and ABC 30’s Dale Yurong.

Torrea Joins ABC 30

Ana Torrea debuted reporting on ABC 30 earlier this month. She’s already covered such varied stories as winter storms and Fresno City Hall.

Torrea arrives from KION-TV, the CBS affiliate in Monterey. Her credits include working in Eureka, and behind the scenes at The Filipino Channel, and KPIX-TV in San Francisco.
