State Showers Some Love on Morro Bay for Coleman Park

Morro Bay will receive $600,000 from the state to add more features to Coleman Park.

The grant was announced Monday by California State Parks and is from Proposition 68 funding.

According to state officials, the improvements include:

  • new playground;
  • exercise fitness stations and trail;
  • stage/plaza area;
  • three cultural/historical sites;
  • concession building with restrooms;
  • and a parking lot.

More Than $46 Million Awarded

California State Parks awarded $46.2 million for 25 regional and local parks on Monday after evaluating about $428 million in grant requests.

$4.5 Million for Morro Bay Estuary Program

Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced $4.5 million in funding over five years for the Morro Bay National Estuary Program.

That grant will be used to restore water quality and habitat.
