Anyone hoping for relief from the Valley’s run of 100-plus degree temperatures had best be patient.
A high-pressure system is expected to bake Fresno with weekend temperatures of at least 107 degrees, and the first chance of dipping below 100 isn’t expected until next Thursday.
Unfortunately, any relief will be short-lived — three days perhaps. The long-range Accuweather.com forecast calls for afternoons highs of at least 100 degrees for the remainder of the month after Saturday, July 23.
The National Weather Service in Hanford offered one note of good news in its Friday morning discussion: “A possible saving grace is that with mainly clear skies and light winds over (the Valley), radiational cooling may allow for some overnight relief” over the weekend.
High mountain travelers also should know that isolated thunderstorms are possible near the crest of the Sierra Nevada in the afternoons through Tuesday.
