Thank you for your email and contacting me about my editorial regarding ICE. I appreciate your taking the time to write me. You and I differ significantly on this issue. Let me mention just a few of these differences.

First of all, a healthy, well-functioning society cannot pick and choose which laws they will uphold and enforce and which they will ignore. You cannot simply violate our borders by entering the country illegally. It is a crime to do so and those who have entered our country illegally have broken the law. You may want to look the other way but I don’t, and a huge, super-majority of Americans don’t either. We are a nation of laws. If those who support open borders want to change the law, they can attempt to do so via Congress but it’s unacceptable to ignore and violate this nation’s laws and sovereignty.

Second, you state ICE is going after “law abiding” citizens. That is totally false. They are going after criminal illegal aliens: Child rapists, murderers, sex traffickers, etc. If they also come across people here illegally, it is true they don’t look the other way because those people have also committed the crime of entering our country illegally. But their clear focus is getting rid of criminals. That is why they are going to jails trying to get those already in custody but people like Govs. Gavin Newsom and Tim Walz won’t let them. The jails have to release these dangerous criminals into the community and so ICE goes after them in the community. SB54 ensures that our sheriff in Fresno County cannot contact ICE. I didn’t hear you complaining about SB54.

Little Opposition to Obama Immigration Policies

Third, I never heard you complain when President Obama deported 3 MILLION illegals out of our country. Not a word. You know who arrested and deported those people? ICE did. The difference between today and then was those governors and mayors cooperated with ICE and Obama, unlike Walz, Newsom and Gov. JB Pritzker. None called for their citizens to go out into the street and oppose and block ICE from fulfilling their lawful duties. They cooperated. Hence, no problems when Obama deported them.

Fourth, you never mention people killed by the criminal illegal aliens Joe Biden let in this country with open borders. Young Laken Riley, studying to be a nurse, tortured and killed; 12 year-old Jocelyn Nungaray who was raped and murdered, Dacara Thompson thrown off a bridge, and mother of 5 Rachel Morin sexually assaulted and had her head bashed in. These young people were also dreamers and their dreams were snuffed out by criminal illegal aliens that ICE is trying to remove from our communities. They died as the result of a corrupt, cognitively impaired president’s treasonous open border policy.

Fifth, where were you when Biden was letting 10 million to 15 million illegal aliens into our country? When he let children from other countries be murdered, raped, and sex trafficked. Hundreds of thousands of children are still missing after illegally being brought across the border. When drugs, Fentanyl and criminal gangs streamed across the border? I didn’t hear you say anything or protest this. The result is the American people said enough was enough and elected President Trump to remove these criminals who entered our country illegally and that is what ICE Is doing.

Let me end by saying this. I support immigration but only legal immigration. Those immigrants, who also include my ancestors, came to this country legally, followed the rules, and assimilated into the country. They didn’t come here trashing it but loving it and wanting to be a part of it. I’m fully supportive of immigration and those that want to be a part of our great nation. But they must come here legally.
