A man wanted for the armed robbery of a United States mail carrier was arrested Friday after authorities received a tip through Valley Crime Stoppers, just two days after the nonprofit partnered with the United States Postal Service to promote a $150,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Valley Crime Stoppers announced Wednesday, Feb. 11, that Frankie Ochoa had been named a “Most Wanted” suspect with an active warrant for armed robbery of a U.S. mail carrier. In partnership with the United States Postal Service, the organization posted a “Help Us Find Him” advertisement on social media and boosted the post specifically in the Fresno County area to expand its reach.

The reward for information leading to Ochoa’s location and arrest was set at $150,000 by the United States Postal Service. Valley Crime Stoppers said it assisted by accepting anonymous tips through its tip line.

On the evening of Friday, Feb. 13, local law enforcement notified Valley Crime Stoppers that Ochoa was in custody and had been apprehended as a result of a tip submitted to the organization.

“We have worked tirelessly for the past 32 years to earn the public’s trust. We are so grateful for the faith they have placed with us,” said Erica Magarian, executive director of Valley Crime Stoppers.

David Knott, a longtime board member who was recently elected board president, said he was encouraged by the results of the boosted social media campaign. He said the arrest follows the recent apprehension of Peter Bandaphone, who was wanted for DUI–manslaughter.
