Fresno, Santa may need windshield wipers instead of sleigh bells this week.
Steady rain fell across Fresno County from late Tuesday into early Wednesday, flooding some neighborhoods and significantly boosting December precipitation totals.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, Fresno recorded 0.98 inches of rain between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Wednesday, compared with just 0.13 inches earlier in the month.
Showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to continue through Friday, with daytime temperatures remaining in the low- to mid-50s. Southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph are forecast, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph at times.
Additional rainfall of up to three-quarters of an inch is possible Wednesday, with continued rain expected on Christmas Day and into the end of the week.
NWS issued a Flash Flood Warning on Wednesday morning for the Fresno County communities of Auberry and Tollhouse.
