A woman was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Madera, police said.

Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision near the intersection of East Kennedy Street and Tulare Street, according to the Madera Police Department. Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. At this stage, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the collision.

The crash occurred near the 1400 block of East Kennedy Street, which was closed in both directions as officers conducted their investigation.
