Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) sounded the alarm Wednesday to Republican voters about ensuring that the party of President Donald Trump retains the House majority in 2026.
“President Trump is on the ballot next fall,” Johnson said during a news conference outside the Capitol the morning after Democrats dominated a handful of state elections on Tuesday.
Johnson predicted that if Democrats take control of the House next year, they will move to impeach him “probably on the first day of the new Congress in 2027.”
Johnson bragged about Trump’s second-term performance, saying the president had led needed government reforms, lowered prices, and improved access to health care.
However, successful Democratic candidates such as New Jersey Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill and Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger claimed that Trump is responsible for rising food prices, declining health care affordability, and the government shutdown.
Johnson: If we lose the majority… They will try to end the Trump administration. He won’t have 4 years. He’ll have only 2, because they will move to impeach him, probably on the first day of the new Congress in January 2027 and try to systematically unwind all the important… pic.twitter.com/5ThkvmJi6H
