The Clovis Police Department has received a $140,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to enhance enforcement and education efforts aimed at reducing serious injuries and deaths on local roads.

The grant program runs through September 2026 and will fund several initiatives, including DUI checkpoints, distracted driving operations, and enforcement focused on violations such as speeding, failure to yield, and red-light running. Additional efforts will target dangerous driving behaviors that endanger bicyclists and pedestrians.

“We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement efforts and improve road safety,” said Corporal Mark Bradford, the department’s traffic supervisor.

The funding will also support officer training and community presentations on traffic safety issues, including DUI checkpoints and patrols.

“Through focused traffic enforcement and education, we’re working toward a future where everyone will be safe on California roads,” said OTS Director Stephanie Dougherty.
