A Canadian journalist was placed on indefinite leave after making antisemitic remarks on live radio, claiming U.S. politics, Hollywood, and major cities are “run by Jews,” the New York Post reported.
Radio-Canada journalist Élisa Serret made the comments Monday while discussing U.S. support for Israel amid the Gaza conflict.
The publicly funded broadcast network condemned the statements as “stereotypical, antisemitic, erroneous and prejudicial” and apologized.
The Quebec chapter of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs praised the decision. Canadian Identity Minister Steven Guilbeault said such language “risks normalizing hatred” and has no place in Canada.
