Sean McVay made it clear on Monday that the Los Angeles Rams would bring in cornerback help soon after losing Ahkello Witherspoon to injured reserve, and they wasted little time signing someone. On Tuesday, the team announced it has signed Tre Brown to a one-year deal, adding some much-needed depth in the secondary.
Brown was a fourth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2021, spending the first four years of his career with the team. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers in free agency this offseason but was placed on IR in August and then released a couple of weeks later.
In four seasons as a pro, Brown has two career interceptions, including one pick-six. He’s also recorded two forced fumbles, eight passes defensed and made 74 tackles. He’s played 39 total games and made 13 starts, all with the Seahawks.
Brown will be a backup initially with the Rams but with Witherspoon expected to miss 12 weeks, he could be called into action at some point.
