Man Fatally Shot in Southeast Fresno, Suspect Arrested After Traffic Stop

A man was fatally shot in southeast Fresno late Thursday night, and police have arrested a suspect following a traffic stop, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

Officers from the Southeast Policing District responded around 10:58 p.m. to the area of Floradora and Winery avenues to a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Sevastion Prado, 43, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

Officers and emergency medical personnel provided first aid, and Prado was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m., police said.

Witnesses at the scene identified Michael Anthony Jacintho, 46, as the suspected shooter.

According to investigators, Jacintho confronted Prado at the location and shot him once in the chest before fleeing.

Officers later located Jacintho during a traffic stop near First Street and Clinton Avenue.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of murder and a parole violation.
