Original Story
A wildfire that sparked Wednesday in Madera County continued to burn out of control Thursday morning, according to CalFire.
The blaze, known as the River Fire, broke out near Avenue 7 1/2 and River Drive in the Madera Valley area near Firebaugh.
As of 8:53 a.m. Thursday, the fire had scorched 12 acres with 0% containment.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported, and officials have not confirmed any damage to structures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. CalFire’s Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit is leading the response in unified command.
Officials are urging residents in the area to remain alert as crews continue to battle the flames.
