North Forkner Avenue has long been in sad shape. In fact, it scores 18 out of 100 on the pavement condition index.
But because the road — like many locally — is under the purview of Fresno County on one side and the city of Fresno on the other, it’s been difficult to get leaders to agree on repairs.
The good news: County supervisor Steve Brandau and city councilmember Mike Karbassi have hashed out a deal in which Forker will be repaired with each branch of government contributing 50% of the costs.
The road will be closed to motorists from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for about two weeks, beginning Monday, June 12.
