A 64-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in southwest Fresno, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

Police responded to Tulare Street and B Street around 7 a.m. after receiving a call about a man on the sidewalk.

Officers found Abraham Tiggs unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and EMS personnel, Tiggs was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives learned that Tiggs, a member of the unhoused community, was seen on video walking south on B Street toward Tulare Street shortly before the shooting.

The footage shows him collapsing at about 11:40 p.m. the previous evening. Investigators believe the shooting occurred near B Street and Mariposa Street shortly before Tiggs was found.

Detectives are canvassing the area and nearby businesses for additional witnesses and video footage. No suspects have been identified.
