After a one-year hiatus, Fresno State will again be asking its supporters and friends to dig into their pockets to support the eighth Day of Giving, which raises money for departments, programs, scholarships, student research, and other university needs.
Day of Giving will begin at midnight March 26 and continue until 11:59 p.m. And if you’re wondering which departments or programs are getting the most financial support, the university’s Day of Giving website will keep updated totals on a leaderboard.
The event, previously held in the fall, has been moved to the spring to coincide with “I Heart Fresno State Week,” which the university says will be filled with events and activities that celebrates what makes Fresno State special.
Day of Giving will have its own special activities, including a faculty and staff kick-off party from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Smittcamp Alumni House. There will also be the Bulldog Roadshow March 24-26, where staff members will visit local businesses to celebrate their support for the university.
Fresno State supporters are encouraged to wear Bulldog Red on March 26 in support of Fresno State pride and to use the hashtag #FresnoStateDOG on all related social media posts.
The last Day of Giving in November 2023 attracted contributions from 1,832 donors in 44 states and six countries. The university says participation, not a particular dollar goal, is the focus of Day of Giving.
But those dollars will mean a lot to Fresno State, says President Saul Jiménez-Sandoval.
“Day of Giving is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together as a community,” he said in a news release. “Every gift, no matter the size, champions programs and initiatives that directly speak to the donor, and that empower our talented students! Through Day of Giving we advance our mission of education, innovation and service.”
