A 28-year-old after-school tutor in Kerman was arrested Tuesday on charges of arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes and sending harmful material to a minor, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Maci Rodriguez, who worked for Teaching Fellows, a company contracted by Kerman Unified School District, was taken into custody by detectives with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

She has been booked into the Fresno County Jail.

The investigation began after Kerman Police and the school district received reports of concerning digital communications between Rodriguez and a middle school-aged student who had previously attended Kerman Floyd Elementary, where Rodriguez tutored.

ICAC detectives took over the case and found messages of a sexual nature between Rodriguez and the student.

Officials said no evidence has been found of a physical relationship.

Got a Tip?

Due to Rodriguez’s role in the school district, investigators are asking potential victims to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detective Patrick Clark at (559) 550-0798, detective Fernando Rosario at (559) 760-6282, or Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.
