A man was killed Friday night in Tulare, and police have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the case, the Tulare Police Department said in a Sunday statement.
Officers responded at 10:51 p.m. to reports of gunfire near San Joaquin Avenue and California Street.

Officers found shell casings in the roadway and discovered Solomon Ponce, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound. Ponce was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Shortly after, police were notified that a 39-year-old man had arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators determined he had been at the scene during the shooting.

Detectives learned that Ponce had been involved in a physical altercation with multiple individuals before one suspect opened fire.
Authorities later obtained a search warrant and arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. Police believe the incident was gang-related.
