The Fresno State’s men’s basketball team was one second away from upsetting Wyoming in Laramie and getting its first Mountain West road victory under first-year coach Vance Walberg.

But Obi Agbim hit a contested 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie it at 67 apiece, and the Cowboys buried the Bulldogs in the overtime session to escape with an 83-72 victory on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (5-16, 1-9) have led late in several MW games this season only to see victory slip away. In this one, they overcame a 13-point second-half deficit by forcing numerous turnovers and taking the lead to the chagrin of the Wyoming fans.

Agbim finished with 17 points, five assists, and three steals for the Cowboys (11-10, 4-6). Kobe Newton led Wyoming with 18 points and added seven rebounds. Jordan Nesbitt came up big with six of his 10 points in overtime.

Jalen Weaver attacked the basket throughout the game and led the Bulldogs with 23 points. In an all-around performance, Elijah Price put up 11 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Fresno State continues its conference road swing on Saturday at Boise State (13-7, 5-4). Tipoff is 1 p.m. PT. The game will stream on the Mountain West Network.
