Alexan Balekian returns to the airwaves with a new show starting Sunday on KMJ radio (105.9 FM/580 AM). “Sunday Conversations” will air weekly at 9 a.m. for an hour.

“We’re going to have a conversation with not only Republicans, but Democrats, and that spectrum is left and right and everything in between. And everyone has a seat at this table,” Balekian said.

Balekian served as an anchor on KSEE 24 until last year. He has since engaged in political consulting and recently started as Madera County spokesperson.

He said his new show will be similar to his KSEE public affairs show, “Sunday Morning Matters.”

“I think it’ll be even more conversational. I think it’ll be a little bit more candid. It won’t be outdated, like much of what you see on local Sunday shows,” Balekian said.

This is a KMJ return for Balekian. He succeeded legendary sportscaster Bill Woodward on the station in 2008, and hosted an afternoon radio show “No Static Sports.”

This is her second on-air TV job. She arrives from the KCOY/KEYT duopoly on the Central Coast, where she had worked since 2022.

Rawhide Hires Rookie Broadcaster

Griffin Epstein

The Visalia Rawhide are used to taking on rookies as they are the Single-A team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Now, they have a rookie in the booth.

The team announced that Griffin Epstein will handle play-by-play duties in 2025. The 2023 Indiana University graduate has experience with non-affiliated teams — the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Evansville Otters — and is finishing up winter ball duty with the Brisbane Bandits in Australia.

All games are available online on the Rawhide website. The season starts April 4.

He takes over for Joey Gonzalez, who handled the 2024 duties, but left to broadcast at the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio, Texas, where he is studying for a graduate degree.

The Fresno Grizzlies are also expected to hire a new broadcaster for 2025. Stephen Rice, the broadcaster and communications director for the team for the last two years, parted ways and is now a content provider for Rochester, New York-based We the Hobby.

David Taub,
Senior Reporter
Curiosity drives David Taub. The award-winning journalist might be shy, but feels mighty with a recorder in his hand. He doesn't see it his job to "hold public officials accountable," but does see it to provide readers (and voters) the information needed to make intelligent choices. Taub has been honored with several writing awards from the California News Publishers Association. He's just happy to have his stories read. Joining GV Wire in 2016, Taub covers politics, government and elections, mainly in the Fresno/Clovis area. He also writes columns about local eateries (Appetite for Fresno), pro wrestling (Off the Bottom Rope), and media (Media Man). Prior to joining the online news source, Taub worked as a radio producer for KMJ and PowerTalk 96.7 in Fresno. He also worked as an assignment editor for KCOY-TV in Santa Maria, California, and KSEE-TV in Fresno. He has also worked behind the scenes for several sports broadcasts, including the NCAA basketball tournament, and the Super Bowl. When not spending time with his family, Taub loves to officially score Fresno Grizzlies games. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taub is a die-hard Giants and 49ers fan. He graduated from the University of Michigan with dual degrees in communications and political science. Go Blue! You can contact David at 559-492-4037 or at Send an Email
