A Fresno man is in jail after making threats against a judge and prosecutor who put him away last year in a domestic violence trial.
Burton Enloe, 34, spent 113 days in jail last year after being convicted of three counts related to a domestic violence incident. Judge Gary Orozco presided over the trial, and Andrew Janz prosecuted the crimes in part.
“On April 6, 2023, Mr. Enloe allegedly threatened to kill Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz and Superior Court Judge Gary Orozco in a conversation with law enforcement officers,” an internal Fresno Police Department memo obtained by GV Wire said.
It is not clear what the nature of Enloe’s conversation was with law enforcement.
“Mr. Enloe is a convicted Felon on felony probation and has been known to have access to firearms and other weapons. Please notify the Fresno Police Department if Enloe is contacted in or around Fresno City Hall or on the grounds of the Fresno Superior Court,” the police memo said.
Janz left the Fresno County District Attorney’s office last year to take his current position as Fresno City Attorney. He declined to comment, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Orozco did not return a message.
As of Tuesday evening, Enloe has not been formally charged, but law enforcement sources expect him to be arraigned Thursday.
Enloe faces two felony counts of making threats — PC 76, threatening a public official; and PC 422(a), criminal threat.

A Criminal Past
Court records show Enloe has several prior cases, including a 2020 domestic violence arrest. Of the initial 12 counts, Enloe was found guilty of three — for corporal injury on a cohabitant, resisting a public or peace officer, and contempt of court. He was found not guilty of one — false imprisonment with violence. The remaining counts were dismissed.
Orozco sentenced Enloe to 364 days in jail. Enloe served 113 days, and the rest was either suspended or reduced by a good conduct credit.
Police arrested Enloe around 10 a.m. Tuesday near Cedar Avenue and Champlain Drive. He also has a no-bail hold based on a probation violation, the county jail website shows.
Enloe also had a 2008 vandalism conviction. He had at least two restraining orders issued against him in the past.
Fresno police offered no comment and would not provide any details.
Calls to Enloe’s most recently listed attorney were not answered.
