The Tulare Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning.

At approximately 2:04 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the face at a residence in the 200 block of S. H Street, authorities said in a statement.
Officers made contact with the victim, a 44-year-old male from Tulare, who reported he was walking near the intersection of H Street and W. Inyo Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male suspect.

Authorities said that the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the face for an unknown reason before fleeing the area.
The victim managed to walk to his residence and call 911.
The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition, according to officers.
