A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Monday morning in Madera, the Madera Police Department said in a statement.

Around 6:25 a.m., officers were called near the intersection of North Schnoor Street and West Cleveland Avenue, where a male pedestrian had been hit.

When police arrived, they found an unidentified Hispanic male lying on the ground and the driver, a minor, at the scene.
Officers performed life-saving measures before the pedestrian was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital, where he died.

Police said that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
