Former President Donald Trump is set to hold a rally on Saturday at Calhoun Ranch in Coachella, California, according to CNN.

As the Republican presidential nominee, Trump is currently trailing by 25 points in California, having lost the state by 29 percentage points, or approximately 5 million votes, in the 2020 election.

Temperatures on Saturday in Coachella will top out at 103 degrees, the National Weather Service predicts.

Trump stated he is campaigning in California this weekend because “I felt I owed it to them.”

In an interview on Tuesday with “The John Kobylt Show,” Trump addressed why he would “waste any time and money” campaigning in a Democratic stronghold, saying, “We have a lot of support in California and I felt I owed it to them.” He also praised the location of the rally, noting, “And he really wanted to do it, he’s a great gentleman” referencing the landowner.

Trump expressed confidence about his chances, asserting that he would “win it in a landslide” if there was an “honest election” in California, despite Democrats winning the state in the last seven presidential elections.

“I make speeches in California; I have massive crowds of people. You have people that go, they say, ‘How do you lose it?’ They send them out and they get sent back and nobody knows what the hell’s going on,” Trump said, casting doubt on mail-in voting.
