A public funeral for slain Selma police officer Gonzalo Carrasco Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Fresno’s Selland Arena.
There will be about 4,100 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Attendees will undergo security screening outside the arena. The sheriff’s office asks that people don’t try to enter with bags, backpacks, and purses.
A public viewing and mass for Carrasco will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Selma. The church is at 2441 Dockery Ave.

Suspect Charged With Murder
Carrasco, 24, was patrolling a residential neighborhood when a neighbor stopped him to report a suspicious person in the area. A short time later, investigators say the officer located the suspicious person and attempted to contact him when he was gunned down.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has charged Nathaniel Michael Dixon, 23 of Selma with murder in the officer’s death.
