A longtime Fresno delicatessen known for its delicious sandwiches has cracked Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants list for 2023.
Sam’s Italian Deli & Market is ranked No. 68 based on the recommendations of Yelp reviewers.
“For more than 4 decades, this deli and Italian market has been filling Fresno residents’ needs for fresh food and pantry provisions. And it gets major Yelp love for top-notch sandwiches, expertly prepared behind the old-school counter. Here, you’ll find a selection of cold deli classics like salami and provolone, smoked turkey breast, muffuletta, and roast beef, plus hot sandwiches with grilled chicken, sausage, and steak,” notes Yelp in its write-up about Sam’s.
Yelp Reviewers Love Sam’s
Victoria B. of Fresno posted this review of the deli, which was cited by Yelp.
“DEFINITELY A MUST! Not just for Fresno, or the state, but west of the whole friggin Mississippi! And this is coming from an Italian-raised NYer!”
And, Andrew K. of Clovis declared that Sam’s has “THE BEST MEATBALL SANDWICH IN TOWN!”
Sam’s is at 2415 N. First St. just north of Clinton Avenue.
The No. 1 restaurant on the Top 100 is Broken Mouth, a Hawaiian-Korean cafe in Los Angeles.
The Yelp Top 100 includes 28 California restaurants. Runner-up Florida has 14 and Texas follows in third place with eight.
