A new Clovis bakery will offer more than just custom cakes and breads, but breakfast and lunch, inspired by foods from around the world.

Navdip Singh, owner and partner of Rustika Cafe and Bakery, says his new business at Herndon and Willow avenues — in the Target shopping center — will be open by early to mid-October. The address is 785 W. Herndon Ave., Suite 500.

“People can try a different kind of food. We have bakeries around here, but this bakery is special because I call it a fusion of cultures,” Singh said. “They have a variety of products from all over the world, there are pastries from France. Cakes, the icings are from Italy, and food from Mexico. We have American food as well.”

If it’s Breakfast or Lunch, They Probably Have it at Rustika

If you love breakfast and lunch, Rustika serves it all day, said Marco Reznick, executive at Rustika.

On the traditional American side, they serve omelets, breakfast tacos, sandwiches. On the French side, they have sweet and savory crepes. They do frittatas, chilaquiles, avocado toast, and a wide variety of pastries.

For lunch, they’ll serve salads and sandwiches, but also a variety of empanadas.

Anyone looking for baked goods can get a variety of pies, cheesecakes, breads and cookies, including Argentinian alfajores. That is a sandwich cookie with shortbread and dulce de leche in the middle.

They also do custom cakes for any occasion.

“What really sets us apart on that end is we don’t use any shortening, everything is made with real butter, so it’s more homemade, kind of like when you cook at home, you don’t really cut corners or use any preservatives,” Reznick said.

First Appearance of Rustika Outside of Texas

After 15 years as an engineer in the Bay Area, Singh wanted to be a business owner. He and his family would bake at home, but doing so on a commercial level is different. He needed help. That was when he found Rustika.

Reznick’s mom started Rustika back in 1994. Rustika has locations throughout the Houston area, but when Singh found out about the bakery, he wanted to bring it to the Clovis area. More than a franchisee, Singh became a business partner in the company.

And, with family in Fresno, the area fit.

“We have a large community and they are also looking for a very good bakery,” Singh said. “Basically, I came here for family and we love it here. We love the village kind of feeling, we don’t like big cities, traffic.”
