Just a few months ago, William, a small dog found next to a trash bin, was in a condition so dire that it was heartbreaking to witness.
Covered in sores and suffering from sarcoptic mange, the odds were stacked against him. But thanks to the quick thinking of a good Samaritan and a dedicated animal rescue team, William’s life has taken a miraculous turn.
“When we first saw the photos, we knew right away that William needed urgent care,” said a spokesperson for the rescue. “He had sarcoptic mange, which is not only highly contagious but also devastating for dogs and humans alike until treatment begins. We knew without our help, his chances were slim.”

William, estimated to be around five or six years old, was in such bad shape that his rescuers initially struggled to determine his breed. The constant biting and scratching from the itch caused by the mites had led to his teeth decaying, and his fur was matted into his mouth, leaving him in a pitiful state.
After receiving medical treatment, William was finally on the road to recovery. “It’s amazing how resilient he is,” said the rescue team. “Despite everything, you could still see a little sparkle in his eyes.”
Today, William is thriving. His fur is growing back, and he’s nearly unrecognizable from the dog who was once covered in dead skin. His breed remains a mystery, but rescuers suspect a poodle mix, pending results from a DNA test.
Weighing in at 10 pounds, William has also proven to be well-behaved and house-trained, with a sweet personality that charms everyone he meets.
William is now looking for his forever home — a place where he can finally be treated like the prince his rescuers always knew he was.
