Bill Burr Headlines a Fresno Weekend of Comedy and Tribute Bands

If you’re in the mood for comedy or tributes to your favorite rock bands, a nice selection awaits.

Comedian Bill Burr will bring his uncompromising standup to the Table Mountain Casino. DiCiccoā€™s in Old Town Clovis and the Visalia Fox Theatre will host comedy shows.

Meanwhile, tributes to Linkin Park, Metallica, and Nirvana are on the schedule.

Bill Burr

Renowned comedian Bill Burr will provide the laughs Friday at Table Mountain. He’s famous for his insult comedy, sarcasm, and satire. He’s been doing it for decades.

Burr is a Grammy Award and Primetime Emmy Award nominee. He has released multiple stand-up comedy specials. In 2017, Rolling Stone ranked him at No. 17 on its list of the “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time.” He’s also an actor, writer, producer, and podcaster.

He’s been in feature films like “The King of Staten Island,” “The Front Runner,” “Daddyā€™s Home,” and “Old Dads.” Burr has hosted “Saturday Night Live.” He has notable roles in television and streaming shows like “The Mandalorian,” “Reservation Dogs,” and “Breaking Bad.” He lent his voice to the adult animated show he created for Netflix, “F is For Family.”

Adding to his list of accomplishments, he was the first comedian to perform at Boston’s Fenway Park.

Linkin Park and Nirvana Tributes

The Linkin Park Tribute will rock the Tower Theatre crowd this Friday along with Nirvanna, a tribute to Nirvana.

The Linkin Park Tribute originates from Florida and its replication of the nu-metal giant is spot on. They’ll play anthems like ā€œIn The End,ā€ ā€œCrawling,ā€ and ā€œSomewhere I Belong.ā€

The closest musical act to come close to emulating Nirvana at its peak in 1991 is Nirvanna. They’ve done an exceptional job of bringing back the spirit of the pioneering band that defined grunge. “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Come As You Are,” and “Lithium” will boom through the venue.

Central Valley Fuego FC vs South Georgia Tormenta FC

Central Valley Fuego FC is the regionā€™s professional soccer team in USL League One and they’ll face South Georgia Tormenta FC at the Fresno State soccer stadium on Saturday.

It will be Marvel Superhero Night. Come dressed as your favorite hero and get free entry. The first 200 people at the gate will receive a Marvel and Fuego FC shirt.

Damage Inc.

Damage Inc, which is Southern California’s tribute to Metallica, will have the Tower Theatre moshing and head-banging on Saturday. Their appreciation for the band can’t be understated. They were seen on AXS TVā€™s ā€œThe World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.ā€

Over the course of a 20-year career, they have performed over 450 electrifying concerts for Metallica fans across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. They’ve captivated audiences with their authentic representation of the pulse-pounding intensity of their songs like “Enter Sandman,” Master of Puppets,” and “Wherever I May Roam.”

Opening will be Lord Of This World. They’re a tribute to Black Sabbath. Be prepared to hear “Paranoid,” and “Iron Man.”

Sara Gazarek and Friends

Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist Sara Gazarek will perform Sunday at Maximus Studios this Sunday. She’s collaborated with jazz legends Fred Hersch, Billy Childs, and Kurt Elling. Gazarek has six critically-acclaimed albums under her belt.

She’ll be joined local musician Richard Lloyd Giddens Jr., Larry Koonse, and Mark Ferber. Koonse has received multiple Grammy nominations over the years and has been a featured player on more than 400 albums. Ferber has collaborated with his twin brother Alan Ferber on Alan’s Grammy nominated big band and nonet.

24 Hours of Deadpool and Wolverine

Regal at River Park will host 24 hours of Deadpool with ā€œround-the-clockā€ showtimes of Deadpool and Wolverine in all formats including 3D, 4DX, IMAX, and ScreenX on Thursday at 3 p.m. to celebrate the opening day of the movie release. Attendees will receive a mini-poster at 4DX screenings, an exclusive collectible ticket at IMAX viewings, or a limited-edition path at ScreenX showtimes while supplies last.

Slice of Comedy Allison Weber, Friday

Danny Minch hosts these comedic events every weekend at DiCiccoā€™s in Old Town Clovis. Headlining is Allison Weber. She entered in the Fresh Faces of Comedy Contest and finished in the top three of the 50 comics. She’s performed at the Hollywood Comedy Festival, the San Luis Obispo Comedy Festival, and the Boca Raton Winter Comedy Festival.

Wine Down Fridays at Toca Madera Winery, Friday

Wine Down Fridays happens every Friday from June 28 to Sept. 13 at Toca Madera Winery. Brandon Freeman and the Smooth Operretta will be performing, and Ashley Rose is the opener. They have wine specials. Food will be provided by Kerrib Flava (Jamaican food). Thereā€™ll be a sangria happy hour. Bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets.

Crackerjack at Engelmann Cellars, Friday

Crackerjack will perform at Engelmann Cellars on Friday. They play a variety of music ranging from classic rock, alt rock, metal and everything else in between. Itā€™s going to be a great evening under the stars with live music, wine, beer, frose, food trucks, and lots of dancing.

We Own The Laughs, Friday

We Own The Laughs performs the Visalia Fox Theatre on Friday. The event will be highlighted by show-stealing performances from Jeremiah Nation, Alexis Prigo, Tyson Paul, and Jeff Dye. The host for the evening is Trent Babb.

Pets & Plants: Dog Days of Summer is a fun-filled day celebrating furry friends and beautiful blooms this Saturday at Belmont Nursery. There will be pet adoption trucks, food trucks, pet photo area, DJ, and a dog costume contest.
