A Fresno Fire Department investigation into a series of blazes at cemeteries along Belmont Avenue reveals that the fires were set intentionally, authorities said Monday.
As a result, the fire and police departments are increasing their presence in the area. The fires began on Jan. 13 and the most recent one occurred Monday.
The cemeteries where the arsonists have struck are on Belmont between Parkway and Hughes avenues, officials said.

Fire investigators are collecting surveillance footage and seeking out potential witnesses to aid in the investigation.
Although initial witness statements suggest that these fires were not part of a targeted attack but instead crimes of opportunity, law enforcement is working to identify the arsonists.
