Six suspected gang members were arrested Wednesday morning after a home invasion robbery in Modesto prompted a neighborhood search and an investigation that extended to Ceres, according to the Modesto Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a residence in the 400 block of Goldrun Drive. They arrived as three suspects were returning to a nearby vehicle, while a fourth fled on foot into a neighboring backyard, police said.

Officers established a perimeter and searched the neighborhood with assistance from the department’s Investigative Services Division. The fleeing suspect was found hiding in a backyard near Hubert Street and taken into custody.

Investigators learned that two additional suspects had left before officers arrived. After reviewing neighborhood surveillance footage, police identified a vehicle associated with those suspects. Investigators used citywide camera systems, including automated license plate readers, to locate the vehicle at a residence in Ceres, according to the department.

Detectives watching the residence saw the two suspects leave in a vehicle. Modesto officers stopped the vehicle and arrested both suspects, police said.

A search of the vehicle uncovered evidence consistent with items stolen during the robbery, according to police. Detectives then served a search warrant at the Ceres residence, recovering additional evidence connected to the robbery, including clothing and masks investigators believe were worn during the crime.

Police identified those arrested as Alexander Rincon, 26; Marco Vega, 31; Manuel Lopez, 23; Jose Reyuelta, 20; and Abrahan Rivera, 31, all of Modesto, and George Gonzales, 39, of Oakland.

The six were booked on multiple felony charges, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, and criminal street gang participation, police said.
