Police are investigating a double homicide following a shooting in the 460 block of South Main Street, the Porterville Police Department said Friday.
Police said the scene has been secured and there is no current threat to the surrounding area.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking the public to avoid the area while investigators and emergency personnel work at the scene.
South Main Street is closed from Date Avenue south to the Tule River Bridge. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes until further notice.
Police said additional information will be released as details are confirmed.
