A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday night in the parking lot of Bulldog Liquor on Shaw Avenue, Fresno police said.

Officers responded about 10:32 p.m. after a one-round ShotSpotter notification, according to police. Dispatchers then received additional information reporting a shooting victim at the location.

Officers found Muhammad Muhtaraam-Conley suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. Officers and emergency medical personnel provided life-saving measures before he was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Homicide detectives determined that a verbal disturbance occurred in the parking lot before the shooting, police said.

Detectives are searching the surrounding neighborhood for surveillance video and seeking witnesses who may have information about the shooting.
